Rodeo Rules

 

 

2008 Rodeo Rules

1. Fishing and diving is open to ALL PUBLIC waters.

2. Competition begins @ 12:01 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008 and ends when scales close at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday June 28, 2008.

3. Bad Weather Rule: 12 consecutive hours without small craft caution issued by the National Weather Service constitute a valid rodeo.

4. Contestants must be in accordance with state and federal regulations along with rodeo rules, also all participants must possess all appropriate Louisiana State fishing licenses.

5. All fish entered in the spearfishing category must be speared by the diver while submerged and must be brought to the beach or boat by the diver. SCUBA participants must be  certified and possess a Certification Card.

6. Only rubber powered or pneumatic spear guns, loaded by contestants muscle power, will be permitted. 

7. All fish are subject to autopsy. No frozen fish will be accepted. Any attempt to defraud or cheat in the Rodeo, in any way, will automatically disqualify the offender and all his/her fish.  ALL IGFA rules will apply.

8. Ties will be broken by the first fish entered.  Decisions by the WEIGHMASTER are final!!

9. Winners must be present at the awards ceremony, or notify a Rodeo official personally in advance if a representative is to accept an award on their behalf. Ben St.Pierre can be contacted @ 985-209-7725.

10. All protests must be submitted in writing and given to the President before the awards ceremony. Decisions by the President will be final.

11. All fish weighed in remain the property of  the Contestant.

12. Upon entering the Hooks for Hearts Rodeo you are at your own risk. Bridge Side Marina, Hooks For Hearts,  or the American Heart Association will not be held liable for any damages to yourself or your property.

13. All Rodeo Fees are non-refundable.

14. The inshore and offshore categories are for Rod n ReeL fish only. No speared fish will be allowed in these categories. There will be a specific category for speared fish.

15. The overall biggest fish must be caught on rod n reel and the fish must be in accordance with all applicable laws.

16. Fish that have their own category cannot be entered in the miscellaneous category.

17. The overall category winners are determined on a point basis. 3 pts for 1st place, 2 pts for 2nd place, and 1 pt for 3rd place. In the event of a tie, winner will be determined by total weight of fish.

18. No sharks can be entered in the Hooks for Hearts Rodeo.

19.By participating in the Hooks for Hearts Rodeo, I understand that pictures from the rodeo may be used for promotion of future events.
